The Latta Lady Vikings won 4-1 over Green Sea Floyds Trojans on Tuesday, September 17, in Region 6A matchup.
Latta Varsity won 3-1 with set scores 25-23, 22-25, 25-6, 25-18.
In set 1, the Latta Vikings never trailed in the closely contested battle between the 2 schools. Latta would score and then Green Sea Floyds would score. The scoring was close throughout the first set. In the second set, Latta took an early 7-1 lead before Green Sea Floyds fought and closed the gap to 7 for the Vikings and 5 for the Trojans before the Trojans cut the score to 1 point, Latta 8 and Green Sea Floyds 7. Green Sea Floyds took the lead with 12 points to Latta’s 11 points. The set was tied at 12 before Green Sea Floyds led by 2 points. Latta cut the score to 1point, Green Sea Floyds 14 and Latta 13. The Trojans carried a 2-point lead throughout the remainder of the set until Latta once again closed the score to 1point, Green Sea 18 and Latta 17. The Trojans won the second set by 3 points.
Latta jumped out to a 4-0 lead over Green Sea Floyds and continued to score until Latta was ahead 12-1 in the third set. The Vikings dominated scoring in the third set and closed out the third set with a 25 to 6 win.
Green Sea Floyds lead the fourth set 8 to 4 and then 10-6. However, Latta took the lead 12-10 and won the fourth set 25-18.
Latta’s Madison Stevens had 3 aces and 6 kills. Aubrey Allen had 3 aces, 12 kills, and 7 digs. Madison Berry had 12 kills. Hendley Ann McIntyre had 26 assists and 7 digs. Sophie Haselden had 1 block. Samantha Townsend had 13 digs.
Latta varsity is 4-1 in region play.
