Josiah Oxendine has transferred from the Dillon Wildcats team. Who will be Dillon’s quarterback?
After going 10-2 last year, Dillon will face a tough schedule prior to playing region play this year.
In the off-season this year, Dillon was in the weight room attempting to add bulk and muscle while preparing for this season.
Jamarion Fling, who led Dillon with 1425 rushing yards last season, will be accompanied by Dominick Felton who was side-lined much of last season with injury. However, he managed 325 yards. He should be ready to play this season.
The offensive line will have to perform well this year if Dillon is to be successful. After all, Dillon lost Mr. Football Josiah Thompson who is now at the University of South Carolina.
Dillon’s wide receiver Zay Robertson did great in the 7-on-7 drills as did others. Rahmond Hamilton, Rike Niyazaga, Da Dae Williams, Walker Chavis, and Zay Robertson should be good on offense and pose a threat to Dillon’s opposition on defense.
Another positive for Dillon is the return of senior Stephen Rojas as place kicker.
On defense, Dillon is let by Kyheinm Lester, Azavian Deberry, and Temerian Rogers. Linebacker Keriyon Brown had 104 tackles and 3 interceptions last year. Tae Tae Tanksley, and Daniel Capehart are also linebackers.
Several of Dillon’s offensive players will also play defense such as Zay Robertson, Rahmond Hamilton, and Jamarion Fling.
Dillon Head Coach Kelvin Roller; Assistant Coaches: Jacob Shumate, quarterbacks and offensive coordinator; John Parker, offensive linemen; Leo Phillips, running backs; Alan McLaurin, wide receivers; NFL veteran Charlie Brown, wide receivers; Splinter Spivey, tight ends; Will Clark, ILB and defensive coordinator; Sam Grooms, OLB; Damu Ford, DL; Lee Page and Jamie Coleman, defensive backs; and Billy Young, special teams and linebackers; and the players are looking forward to another great season of Wildcat football.
The Dillon Wildcats’ goal is to always play in the last game of the season.
In the season opener, Dillon will host Scotland County on August 23. On August 30, Dillon, Dillon will travel to Socastee. Dillon will travel to Florence on September 6 to face Wilson.
