Johnathan Greene, Jr., Named Marion High School’s New Band Director

Meet Marion High School’s new band director, Mr. Johnathan Greene, Jr.
Mr. Johnathan Greene, Jr. is a native of Florence, SC, and a product of the public schools in Florence County School District 1. After graduating from South Florence High School, he matriculated to Francis Marion University where he graduated with a B.S. in Music Industry in 2018., a M.M. in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music, and is pursuing a Ph.D in Organizational Leadership. While at Francis Marion, Johnathan participated in the FMU Concert Band, Jazz Combo, MI Ensemble, and Percussion Ensemble. At VanderCook, he performed with the Graduate Symphonic Band, Graduate Jazz Ensemble and Graduate Concert Choir.
Since graduating, Mr. Greene works around the Pee Dee as a clinician , instructor, and performer. For six years, he served as Director of Bands for Florence County School District 2, serving the schools of Hannah-Pamplico. His bands have earned ratings and participated in CPA, JPA, Marching Championships, and Solo & Ensemble. He has studied percussion with Dr. Jesse Willis, Dr. Shane Reeves, and Dr. Jim Yakas and conducting with Dr. Terry Roberts, Alex Kaminsky and Dr. Scott Weiss. His professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education (Nafme), the South Carolina Music Educators Association, the South Carolina Band Director’s Association ,National Band Association, and the Percussive Arts Society. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., King Soloman Lodge No. 356, and Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society.
