Sylvia Vance, 74, passed away peacefully on April 26.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, April 30 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Dillon directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Born on October 15, 1949, Sylvia was the daughter of the late H.L. and Beatrice Allen Hamilton of Smithfield, NC.
She was a beloved kindergarten teacher for decades at the former Campbell’s Kindergarten of Dillon. Most of all, Sylvia was also a devoted wife and mother, and later “Mimi” to her grandchildren.
Sylvia, Charlie, and their children enjoyed many years at their beach home in Ocean Isle Beach, NC, where they made lifelong memories and friends. Their family simply enjoyed just being together.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Charles Robertson Vance, III, of Dillon; daughters, Jaime Hayes (Todd) of Dillon and Brooke Rushton (Ryan) of Johns Island, SC; son, Charles R. Vance IV (Faith) of Johns Island; grandchildren, Ella and Griffin Hayes of Dillon and Vance and Maggie Rushton of Johns Island; sister, Ann Swertfeger, of Smithfield, NC; loyal caregiver, Mary Bethea; numerous nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice in her honor.
