Jimmy Russell Cook, 76, passed away at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon December 8, 2024. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. graveside Friday, December 13, 2024 in Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon with Pastor Jacob Cribb officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Kannaday Funeral home in Dillon.
Jimmy was born in Bingham, SC the son of the late Wilbert Harvey Cook and Addie Roselle Brown Cook. He had a degree in Engineering and retired from Corn Products, Inc in North Carolina as a supervisor. He was a Staff Sergeant and veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam and was awarded two Purple Hearts. He attended Pireway Freewill Baptist Church in Tabor City, NC. He was a avid hunter and had membership in Myrtle Head Hunting Club in North Carolina. He was also a member of Waccamaw Indian Tribe of Aynor, SC.
Jimmy is survived by his sons, Jimmy Russell Cook, Jr. (Penny) grandchildren, Alex, Rylee, Anyssa, and Brianna of Winston-Salem, NC, and Tanner Bailey Wilson (Maegan) grandchildren, Kelin and Kyle of Advance, NC; daughters, Stacia Cook, grandchildren, Courtland, Jimmy, and Chelsea of Dillon, SC and Kimberly Jo Bosley, grandchildren, Dallas, Stetson, Dalton, and Layne (Julie) of Palatka, FL; eight great grandchildren; and special friends, Jeff Moss, James Benton, and James Vause. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
