Jacqueline Grier Ard passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 69 in Rock Hill, SC on October 22, 2025. Her sons and family were with her at her side.
Jackie graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Business Administration and received her Masters Degree in Education from Francis Marion College in Florence, SC. She dedicated her teaching career to early education for approximately 35 years at Latta Elementary in Latta, SC, McKee Rd Elementary in Charlotte, NC, and Mt. Gallant Elementary in Rock Hill, SC. Jackie was a member of Latta Methodist Church in Latta, SC.
Jackie is survived by her two sons, Stephen Emerson Ard, age 38, and Cameron Berry Ard, age 34, (fiance Caitlyn), and a granddaughter, Lawson Grier Ard, age 6, all of Rock Hill, SC. She is also survived by her sister, Lynn Grier Brunson (Rocky) of Latta, SC. She is predeceased by her parents, D.A. Grier of McColl, SC and Maxine H. Cottingham of Latta, SC, her grandparents Robert Stephen Hamilton and Lurline S. Hamilton of Dillon, SC, and half brother, Daniel Grier of Florence, SC.
Jackie’s greatest joy was spending time with her sons and her granddaughter (her little bug). Stephen greatly enjoyed movie nights while Cameron loved game show nights. Lawson smiled every time she saw her MiMi pick her up in the school car line and got McDonalds happy meals. Jackie’s happy place was going to the beach with family and friends.
Jackie’s family would like to thank her friends Susan Hendrix and Pat Buddin, and her cousin, Debbie Altman and countless extended family members and friends who loved and cherished her.
A memorial service in Jackie’s honor will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 2:30pm at Latta Methodist Church, 306 N. Marion St, Latta, SC 29565. Visitation will be held prior at 1:30pm. Jackie’s family will celebrate her life by the ocean, where she always wanted to be.
