IN MEMORIAM: Glenda Faye Hodges Davis

Glenda Faye Hodges Davis, 79, went to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 28, 2025.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the Dillon Church of God with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Born in Dillon, SC, September 28, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Hodges and Ruth Taylor Coward Hodges. She was a member of Dillon Pentecostal Holiness Church. Faye started working at a young age with her brother at Bill’s Korner, and she worked for 29 years at KR Edwards Tobacco Company. She moved back to Dillon and worked for her nephews, Bill Coward at Kwik Mart and Andy Coward at Bill’s Korner where she served many many hotdogs until she was unable to work. She was known by many people in Dillon County as Aunt Faye or Grandma Faye. She would bake cakes for everyone’s birthday. She attended prayer meetings on Tuesday mornings at the Dillon Church of God. Faye was a very special mama, and her hobby was going to Hamrick’s and Goodwill stores. She also loved giving toys to all children she knew, and you could not leave her home without her giving you something.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa W. Smith (David) of Dillon; son, Preston L. Davis, Jr. (Gloria) of Goldsboro, NC; step-son- Dana Grandy (Tara) of North Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Melanie D. Mercer (Jesse), Allison Davis, and Zachary Davis; step-grandchildren, Blake Grandy (Mary Katherine), Jonathan Smith, Patrick Smith (Christy), Sarah Clark (Philip), and Alexis Smith (Turner); great-grandchildren, Kanen Wright and Maeve Mercer; step-great-grandchildren, Annabella Clark, Caroline Clark, Jackson Smith, Charlotte Smith, Addison Parker, and Wrenley Grandy; brother, James Wayne Williams of Alabama; special niece and caregiver, Tammy Jones, nieces, Linda Humphrey, Ann Lane, and Peggy Hively; special nephews, Little Bill Coward (Judy), Andy Coward (Susie), Robbie Coward (Lisa), and Luther Jackson, Jr. (Pat); special friend and prayer warrior, Dorothy Hulon; special friend and caregiver, Rebecca Locklear; special friends, Rita Herman and all members of Dillon Pentecostal Holiness Church; and her Pastor Myrtis Johnson (Deborah) that she loved like a son.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. & Ruth Taylor Coward Hodges; husband, Preston L. Davis; granddaughter, Tabitha “Tab” L. Owens; grandson, Dawson Christopher Davis; brothers, Buddy Coward, W.J. Coward, and Bill Coward, Sr.; sisters, Gladys Jackson, Elizabeth Williams, Shirley Lewis, Josephine Lewis, and Geneva Lane.
