Clyde Leo Bailey, Sr., 87, of Dillon passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024, at McLeod Regional Medical Center with his loving wife by his side. He was born August 26,1937, the son of the late Clyde and Dora Bailey.
Following Clyde’s graduation from Dillon High School he proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps. After serving his country he returned home to Dillon and began his 50 plus year career in textiles with Burlington Industries and retiring from Mohawk Industries. Clyde also served on Dillon County Station 1 for 54 years where he was the last living charter member.
He is survived by his wife, Mary T. Bailey of the home, a son, Charlie Bailey (Faye) of Dillon, grandchildren, Connor Bailey (Briana), Erin Bailey and Madison Bailey (Briggs Causey) great – grandchildren, Bryson Bailey, Kinsleigh Bailey, Hudson Bailey and Wrenlee Causey.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Bailey and Billy Bailey.
The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2024, in Asbury Hall. A service to celebrate Clyde’s life will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Main Street Methodist Church with Reverend Henry Altman officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
