Barbara Jean Johnson, age 72, entered Heaven’s gates early Tuesday morning, April 16th, 2024, at McLeod Heath Dillon.
A celebration of life service is planned for Thursday, April 18th, 2024, at Cooper’s Funeral Home in Dillon, SC, with a private burial service following for immediate family members. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 2-3 PM at Cooper’s Funeral Home just prior to the service.
Born in Dillon, SC, Barbara was a graduate of Latta High School. She was a member of East Dillon Baptist Church and a retired account manager at Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation, a job she loved and poured into for over 30 years.
Barbara, affectionately known as “MeMe” to all who knew and loved her, possessed a servant’s heart and always looked for ways to help others. Her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life, and she took every opportunity to tell others how proud she was of their accomplishments.
Meme is survived by her two daughters, Dawn Johnson (Donnie Chavis) and Johnnie Lynn Rogers (Burt); grandchildren, Lauren Small (Justin), Weston Bailey (Summer), Johnna Jones (Benj), and Lexie Rogers; great-granddaughter, Stella Rue Small; son-in-law, Keith Bailey; special sisters, Abby Prosser and Margaret Harvey; special friends, Dale Driggers and Vera Taylor.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Bruce Johnson; sister, Della Clark; grandmother, Celia Inman; uncle, Albert Inman, and brother, Michael Grey.
