Honoring a Career of Service: Chief David Lane

On behalf of the citizens of the City of Dillon, we extend our gratitude to our Chief, David Lane, for his exceptional 27 years of dedicated service. As Police Chief David Lane retires, he leaves behind a legacy marked by commitment and devotion to the City of Dillon and the surrounding community. His unwavering leadership and compassion have not only protected our community but have also enhanced the relationship between the City of Dillon Police Department and its citizens. Throughout his career, Chief Lane has consistently worked to ensure that the City of Dillon Police Department exemplifies the highest standards of honor and trust.

Chief Lane’s career is marked by numerous achievements, awards and accolades. His leadership was instrumental in implementing community policing strategies that cultivated trust and collaboration between law enforcement and residents of our community. Under his guidance, the police department became a beacon of integrity and innovation, recognized throughout the Pee Dee region and around the State.

Among his numerous achievements, one highlight is the transformation of the historic First Bank Building into the new Police Station. This project not only revitalized a significant historic landmark but also provided the police force with a modern, well-equipped facility they can proudly call home. The new station enables the City of Dillon Police officers to better serve the citizens of our community. Chief Lane further advanced the department by incorporating many cutting-edge technologies typically found in larger cities.

Chief Lane’s influence goes well beyond his professional role. He has served as a mentor to many young officers, instilling values of service, respect, and perseverance. He has transformed the City of Dillon Police Department into an attractive workplace for both young recruits and seasoned officers. His initiatives have boosted community safety, reduced crime rates, and improved the overall quality of life in Dillon.

As we honor this distinguished career of service, it is fitting to express our gratitude to the Lane family. They have not only supported the Chief through challenging times but have also graciously shared him with us for the past 27 years. Chief Lane is a devoted family man who cherishes his faith, family, and community. The City of Dillon extends its thanks to Chief Lane for his 27 years of unwavering service. His dedication and commitment have made a lasting impact on the community, and his leadership will be missed. As he embarks on retirement, we wish him happiness and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
