The Hannah-Pamplico Raiders won 27-22 over the visiting Latta Vikings on Friday, October 25, at Pamplico.
With about 9 minutes to go in the first quarter, Latta’s Makingley Wallace rushed for a 57-yard touchdown. The PAT failed. Latta led 6-0.
Hannah-Pamplico’s Wade Poston threw a completed pass to Tylin Jenkins for a 14-yard touchdown. The Lazaro Santiago’s PAT was good to give the Raiders a 7-6 lead over the visiting Vikings.
Latta’s offense was unable to move the football and turned the pigskin over to the Raiders. Wade Poston tossed a 36-yard pass completion to CJ Woodbury for 6 points. Once again, Lazaro Santiago’s PAT was good. Hannah-Pamplico led 14-6 with about 4 minutes remaining in the first quarter.
With 10 minutes remaining in the first half, the Vikings have turned the football over to the Raiders on downs as Hannah-Pamplico’s defense arose to the occasion and stopped the Vikings on the Raider’s 1-yard line.
The Raiders’ Chris Eldridge rushed for an 89-yard touchdown with about 9 minutes remaining in the first half. The PAT was good by Lazaro Santiago. The Raiders led 21-6.
Latta’s Xy’Mari Bethea rushed for a 2-yard score with about 3 minutes remaining in the first half. Xy’Mari Bethea rushed for the 2-point conversion to cut the Raiders’ lead to 7 points, 21-14, which would be the score at halftime, also.
Latta kicked off to Hannah-Pamplico to begin the third quarter, Latta’s defense prevailed, and the Raiders were forced to punt to Latta. Latta began offense on their own 33-yard line. With about 4 minutes remaining in the third quarter, Latta’s Makinley Wallace rushed for a 4-yard touchdown to cut the Raiders’ lead to only 1 point, 21-20. The Vikings’ Makinley Wallace rushed for the 2-point conversion to give Latta a 22-21 lead.
Each team turned the football over on each’s next offensive series.
Latta maintained a 1-point lead, 22-21, at the end of the third quarter.
With only about 1 minute into the fourth quarter, Hannah-Pamplico’s Wade Poston threw a 14-yard pass completion to Demarion Amonte for a TD. The 2-point conversion failed but the Raiders led 27-22.
The teams continued to battle but neither could score again in the game.
Hannah-Pamplico hs won 6 and lost 2 games this season while Latta has won 4 and lost 5 games this season.
Latta will host Johnsonville on Friday, November 1, at 7:30 p.m.
Hannah-Pamplico will travel to Hemingway on Friday, November 1, for a game against the Tigers.
