Hannah-Pamplico Edges Latta 9-8 In Extra Innings

The Hannah-Pamplico Raiders edged the Latta Vikings 9-8 in varsity baseball played in Latta on Thursday, April 3.
Hannah-Pamplico wasted little time in getting onto the scoreboard as a run crossed home plate in the top of the first inning. The Raiders added a run in the top of the second inning. The Latta Vikings responded with 4 runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 4-2 lead. The Raiders cut the lead to one run in the top of the third as they scored a run, 4-3. Hannah-Pamplico added 3 runs in the top of the fifth inning and another run in the top of the sixth inning to take a 7-4 lead. Latta added a run to the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the lead, 7-5. In the top of the seventh inning, the Raiders added a run. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Latta added 3 runs to knot the score at 8 each and force extra innings. Neither team could muster a score in the eighth or ninth innings. In the top of the tenth inning, Hannah-Pamplico managed to score a run to take a 9-8 lead. Latta did not manage to score a run in the bottom of the tenth inning and took a heartbreaking loss.
Latta left 15 on base and struck out 6 times in the game. Latta also committed 8 errors in the game while Hannah-Pamplico committed 5 errors.
Latta’s Logan Byrd had 3 hits in 5 at a double, 2 singles, scored a run, 2 rbi, and was hit by a pitch in his 6 plate appearances. Zach Lane had a double, a single, scored 2 runs, and a rbi in 6 plate appearances. Seth Minshew had 2 doubles, scored 2 runs, and a rbi in 6 plate appearances. BW Berry had 2 singles and a rbi in 6 plate appearances. JJ Welch had a single in 3 plate appearances. Mason Weatherford had a double in 6 plate appearances. Ryan Perritte scored a run. Fisher Richardson scored a run and a rbi. Latta garnered 8 walks in the game.
Latta’s BW Berry pitched 4 innings and allowed 4 hits, 5 runs of which 2 were earned, walked 4, and struck out 1. Caden Lee pitched 6 innings and allowed 9 hits, 4 runs of which 3 were earned, walked 2, and struck out 8.
4-6 Hannah-Pamplico will travel to 8-3 Lake View on Friday, April 4, for a 6:00 p.m. game.
7-7 Latta will travel to Carvers Bay on Friday, April 4, for a 6:00 p.m. game.
