The Hamer Church of God honored Pastor Kevin and Nancy Byrd on Sunday, September 7, with Pastor Appreciation Day.
Prominently display on the church sign was “Thank You, Pastor Kevin and Nancy Byrd”.
Bobby Deese welcomed everyone the service.
After prayer by Bobby Deese, Deese led the choir and the congregation in “Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary” to those who celebrated in September.
The congregation sang “Goodness of God” followed by the choir “Living Hope” by the choir. The congregation followed with “Trust In God”.
Pastor Byrd is recuperating from knee surgery.
The youth presented Pastor Kevin and Nancy Byrd with a gift. The little and big children presented a gift, also. The Hamer Church of God Women’s Ladies’ Council and Board presented Mrs. Nancy Byrd with a gift. The Church Council presented Pastor Byrd with a gift.
The offertory prayer was by Jesse Cook.
Sylvia Webster had the announcements and welcomed the guest speaker, Rev. Wayne Parker of the Daviston Church of God, Gresham, S.C.
Rev. Parker spoke from Isaiah, Chapter 52. The chapter begins with a powerful command for Zion to “Awake, awake!” and for Jerusalem to put on its beautiful garments, symbolizing renewed strength and beauty after the degradation of exile.
At the conclusion of the service, an invitation was given.
After prayer, everyone was invited to a delicious meal that was served in the Hamer Church of God Fellowship Hall where everyone enjoyed the time of fellowship and good food.
