The Gordon Elementary School students made a donation of food to Help For Veterans, Inc. for the Dillon County Veterans on Tuesday, November 26.
The students were assisted by student advisors and teachers.
While there, the students asked questions to Veterans Ed McKenzie, Levern Hayes, and Lloyd Brown about military service and wars. The Veterans told everyone to believe in God and have faith. One of the Veterans discussed how tough it was during the Vietnam war. Another Veteran remarked that he could not make up his mind and changed it several times. One who was in the Air Force stated that he joined the Air Force to work on airplanes. After his time in service, he went to college because his service, he could not afford to go. But, with the help of the Air Force he was able to get a college education.
The Veterans told the students to have fun and relax while they were young. As you grow older, work hard. It’s up to you as you have plenty of opportunities.
The students thanked the Veterans for their service to our country.
The Help For Veterans, Inc. thanked the students, the advisors, and teachers for this donation. They also thanked them for their interest in the Veterans.
