Georgetown Woman to Plead Guilty to Falsifying Statements to Federal Investigators Regarding 2009 Kidnapping and Murder of Brittanee Drexel

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Angel Cooper Vause, 56, of Georgetown, is set to formally enter a guilty plea in federal court on Monday, August 12. Vause was charged with lying to federal investigators about her knowledge of the 2009 kidnapping and murder of Brittanee Drexel.

A federal grand jury returned a three-count indictment against Angel Cooper Vause, 56, of Georgetown, for making false statements to federal investigators.

According to the indictment, in May 2022, Vause is alleged to have lied to investigators with the FBI during the investigation into the 2009 disappearance and murder of Brittanee Drexel.

The case was investigated by the FBI Columbia Field Office. Assistant United States Attorneys Winston Holliday and Elle E. Klein are prosecuting the case.

The United States Attorney stated that all charges in this indictment are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
