Georgetown defeated Dillon 15-3 in varsity baseball action played in Dillon on Friday, March 21.
In the top of the first inning, Georgetown’s lead-off hitter, #2-Zack Krause, hit one to deep right and ended up on third base. Georgetown’s Mike Johnson, III, hit a hot grounder to the pitcher for out 1. Bo Moody hit one to left for a single and a rbi. On a passed ball, Moody moves to second base. Connor Hardee hit a fly to center for out 2 that advanced Moody to third base. #8 hit a grounder to second for out 3. Georgetown led 1-0 after the top of the first inning.
Dillon’s Dan Graves led off with a hit to center for a single. Campbell, #6 for Dillon sac bunted to move Graves to second. Hank Grider hit one to third for out 2 that moved Graves to third. Dillon’s #7, Austin Miles, hit a hot grounder up the middle for a single and a rbi to knot the score at 1. Williamson, #5 hit one to center for a single to place base runners on first and second. Jamison Pittman hit a grounder to deep short to load the bases. Dillon’s #1 hit a fly to center for out 3 to leave the bases loaded.
Tucker Perrow led off the top of the second inning with a home run to give Georgetown a 2-1 lead. Chandler Adams hit a grounder to third and arrived safely at first. Adams quickly moved safely to second. Brooks O’Donnell sac bunted to move Adams to third base. On a passed ball, Adams scored to give Georgetown a 3-1 lead. Blake Moore hit a fly to right that was caught by Dillon’s right fielder in a good running catch for out 2. Zack Krause hit a grounder to the pitcher for out 3. After 1 ½ innings, the Bulldogs were up 3-1.
Dillon’s Ryan Carter went down swinging for out 1 in the bottom of the second inning. Dillon’s #11 also went down swinging. Dan Graves hit a fly to center for out 3. After 2 innings of play, Georgetown was up 3-1.
Mike Johnson, III, led off the top of the third with a grounder down the third base line for a lead-off double. Bo Moody garnered a walk. Connor Hardee one over the left field fence for a 3-run home run to give Georgetown a 6-1 lead. Dillon’s #17 took the mound for the Wildcats. Maddux Brown hit a fly to center for out 1. Tucker Perrow hit a grounder to short and arrived at first safely thanks to a throwing error. Chandler Adams popped up a high foul to the catcher for out 2. Brooks O’Donnell goes down swinging for out 3. After 2 and ½ innings, the visiting Bulldogs were up 6-1.
Dillon’s #6 hit a grounder to third for out 1. Hank Grider, #10, was hit by a pitch. Austin Miles hit a fly to center for out 2. Jaden, #5, hit a fly to center for out 3. After 3 innings of play, Georgetown was up 6-1.
Dillon will host Loris on Tuesday, March 25, at 6:30 p.m.
Georgetown will face Emerald at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22. On Tuesday, March 25, the Bulldogs will host Waccamaw at 6:30 p.m.
