FOOTBALL PREVIEW: Dillon Junior Varsity Football Team Rebuilding This Year After Perfect 8-0 Season

The 8-0 Dillon Junior Varsity football team lost many players from last year as the players moved up to the varsity level. Therefore, the team will need to rebuild this season with youth as inexperience will prevail in all positions.
The team expects to receive some leadership from players such as Trey Coward and Zamir Drawhorn.
The offensive and defensive lines will be very young this year. However, the team is attempting to find the right combination of guys for each position on offense. Defensively, there are a couple of guys returning from last year’s team with some experience. The defense has an opportunity to be pretty good as guys continue to lock in and work hard.
The team lost all of their receivers from last year.
Although three of their running backs from last year have returned to play this year, they did not get a lot of carries last year. The team is trying to find the right combination of guys for the running backs.
As far as the field goal kicker and the kick off guy, he has an opportunity to be solid. The team has some options for the punter spot but the team has to lock in on one of them.
The offense is young; it is a work in progress right now according to Coach Kevin Roberts.
“Our quarterback last year was great! It will be difficult to replace him. However, we have some candidates. We have not locked in on one yet. Once again, it’s a work in progress,” stated Coach Roberts.
The Dillon Junior Varsity team will have some players who play defense and offense.
The guys believe in themselves, but they have to keep working hard so it will show on the field.
Head Coach Kevin Roberts is assisted by Coach Austin Moody, Bryce King, and Twin Lester.
The Dillon team has some big shoes to fill this year as the team won 8 games and did not lose a game last year.
The team will begin the season on the road to Socastee on Thursday, August 28, and will be on the road on September 4 to Wilson. Dillon will host Manning on September 11 and will be at home against Hartsville on September 18. Dillon will have a bye week on September 25. Dillon will travel to Loris on October 2. Aynor will invade Dillon on October 9. Dillon will host Marlboro County on October 16. Dillon will travel to Waccamaw on October 23. Dillon will host Georgetown on October 29.
Let’s all get behind these players and show them our support.
Be there for the games this year!
