The Churches of the Floyd Dale Community (Floyd Dale Full Gospel, Pyerian Baptist, and Mt. Andrew Methodist) held a fall harvest fesitval with a chili cookoff on Saturday, November 9, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Floyd Dale Fire Department.
Pastor Hyatt of the Floyd Dale Full Gospel Church commented that the churches came together in an effort to pull the community together. This is the first time that an event like this has taken place in Floyd Dale.
Pastor Hyatt said, “We want the community to know that we care about them. All races and denominations are welcome.” Dr. James Orr was instrumental in helping with this project.
There were five groups who cooked chili for the contest. The winners were Jane Delisa, who took first place honors; Gene Zurcher, who came in second place; and Ursula Drake, who finished in third place.
