Florence County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer involved shooting incident which occurred August 4, 2025 in Dillon County, SC at the request of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
On August 3, 2025 Dillon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a disturbance at a residence on Joann Branch Road in Lake View, SC. When deputies arrived, the subject allegedly pointed a firearm at deputies and threatened to shoot them before barricading himself in the residence. Dillon County Deputies later obtained an arrest warrant for the subject. Dillon County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from SLED which sent it’s SWAT Team to the location. After an extensive stand-off and attempted negotiation with the suspect, the suspect fired multiple rounds at law enforcement and was fatally shot.
Florence County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a thorough criminal investigation into this officer involved shooting. FCSO Investigators will interview all potential witnesses, collect all relevant evidence and forensically test such evidence as appropriate. When the investigation is completed, a case file will be submitted to prosecutors.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing. No additional information will be forthcoming until the investigation is complete.
