The 12-8 Florence Christian Lady Eagles defeated the 6-8 Dillon Christian Lady Warriors 45-36 in varsity basketball action played in Dillon on Tuesday, February 4.
Florence Christian controlled the tip off.
The Eagles’s #2 sank a 3-point shot from the corner to get onto the scoreboard first. Florence Christian’s #1 followed with a 3-point basket. The Eagles’ #5 floated a shot in for 2 points to give Florence Christian a 10-0 lead. The Warriors’ Lily King banked one in for 2 points. Dillon Christian’s Braylen Carter scored a 2-point basket. The Eagles’ #1 connected for a 3-point basket to give Florence Christian a 14-4 lead. The Warriors sank a 2-point basket. The Eagles #15 connected for a 3-point basket that was answered by the Warriors’ Lily King with a 3-point basket of her own. Dillon Christian School’s Alayna Locklear sank 1 of 2 free throws. After the first quarter of play, the Eagles were up 17-6.
In the second quarter of play, the Eagles extended the lead to 21-6 with 2-point baskets from #1 and #5. Florence Christian’s #44 connected for a 3-point basket followed by the Eagles connecting on another 3-point basket to go up 26-6. The Warriors’ Braylen Carter scored a 2-point basket. The Eagles’ #5 went the distance and scored a 2-point basket and was fouled. Dillon Christian’s Alayna Locklear sank 1 of 2 free throws. The Eagles connected for another 2-point basket. At halftime, the Eagles were up 30-11.
Dillon Christian School will travel to Southeastern Academy on Thursday, February 6, for a 5:00 p.m. start.
Florence Christian School will host CA on Thursday, February 6, at 6:30 p.m.
