FIRST RESPONDER SPOTLIGHT:
WILLIAM ANTHONY WEATHERFORD
DILLON COUNTY FIRE STATION TWO
William Anthony Weatherford, LF9, Firefighter/full-time engineer for Dillon County Station Two in Latta, has been a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years. He started as a volunteer firefighter for Marion Rural Fire Department under the leadership of Chief William “Billy” Wallace for several years and received basic firefighter training. He took a break for a few years and became Dillon County citizen during that time. Then when Hurricane Florence was about hit our area, he went to a town/volunteer meeting prior to the hurricane and they asked if anyone had any type of first responder experience, and he stepped up.
Since then, he has been a volunteer and currently now a full-time engineer/firefighter. He became full-time almost two years ago. William is Firefighter ll certified. William is a 2nd generation firefighter, following in the footsteps of his father, who was a firefighter in Havana, Florida.
Outside of firefighting, William is a loving, dedicated, and devoted husband, father, and Papa. Fun fact about William, he is a multi-skilled and very talented person, who enjoys woodworking, mechanical work & operating heavy equipment. When it comes to fixing something, he is your guy!
William is the father of Nikki Weatherford who is a former (certified) firefighter for Dillon County Station Two. She currently is working as a certified EMT for Guardian Ambulance Service and is also a MST for McLeod.
