On Sunday, January 27, the Elders of First Presbyterian Church presented their vision of a building expansion project. In the past five years, the congregation has warmly welcomed several new families and celebrated births of babies. This growth has led to a need for more space for church events, children’s activities, and youth programs. During the meeting, Pastor Matt Adams presented architectural renderings and explained what new spaces the church would enjoy with this new project. The building expansion would include a new fellowship hall, kitchen, recreational space for the children and youth, meeting space, and offices for the church staff. The congregation is very excited about the possibility of this new project!
Additionally, this new project will benefit Dillon’s community. As First Presbyterian sits in the heart of our community, on the corner of HWY 301 and HWY 9, this new building will be a beautiful addition to our downtown. During the congregational meeting, Pastor Matt referenced Jeremiah 29:5-7, “Build and settle down, increase in number and do not decrease. Seek the prosperity of the city and pray to the Lord.” Surely, with this project, First Presbyterian is seeking the prosperity of their congregation, but also praying that their church would be a benefit and light to our community (Matt. 5:14-16).The leadership of the church has been working with Florence Builders Inc, and this project is in the early stages as the church begins raising the funds to continue with this project. They would love your prayers and support!
