The East Clarendon Wolverines defeated the Mullins Auctioneers 34-14 in varsity football action played in Turbeville on Friday, October 17.
Mullins received the opening kickoff of the game.
After the first quarter of play, Mullins held an 8-7 lead over East Clarendon.
With 7 minutes remaining in the second quarter, Mullins’ #7, Deyon Ford, completed a pass to Amir Lee for a touchdown to give Mullins a 14-7 lead.
The Wolverines scored with about 2 minutes remaining before halftime to cut the Mullins’ lead to 1 point, 14-23. East Clarendon’s PAT was good to knot the score at 14. This would be the score at halftime.
East Clarendon kicked off to Mullins to begin the third quarter of play.
Neither team could muster a score in the third quarter. However, the fourth quarter would produce a different outcome as East Clarendon tacked on 20 points beginning with a rushing touchdown with about 11 minutes remaining in the game. The PAT was good. Mullins led 21-14. With about 10 minutes to go, East Clarendon scored a rushing touchdown to go up 27-14. The Wolverines’ PAT was good. East Clarendon led 28-14. The final score of the game came with about 6 minutes to go when East Clarendon rushed for a touchdown. The 2-point conversion failed. East Clarendon led 34-14.
The 7-1 East Clarendon Wolverines will be on the road on Friday, October 24, to play ACA in Conway at 7:30 p.m.
Mullins will host Kingstree on Friday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m.
