GREENVILLE: The South Carolina Football Hall of Fame (SCFHOF) awarded Josiah Thompson (Dillon High School) as the 2024 Bridge Builder Excellence Award winner at the SCFHOF 11th Annual Enshrinement Event on Thursday, April 18th at the Hotel Hartness. The 2024 Bridge Builder Excellence Award is brought to you by Spinx Corporation (Making Life Easier!) and Parham, Smith, and Archenhold LLC,. Attorneys at Law. The award was given out by #SCFHOF22 Inductee and current NFL Alumni Association CEO, Brad Edwards. The award honors and encourages excellence in the community, in the classroom and on the field. The award presentation was made in honor of William B. Sturgis and support from SCFHOF Class of 2022 Inductee Joe Bostic.

· Football Excellence = 40%
· Academics – Minimum 3.2 Core GPA = 30%
· Exemplary School, Character, Community Citizenship, and Leadership = 30%
Josiah Thompson was a senior offensive tackle at Dillon High School in Dillon, SC. In the rankings, Thompson sits atop all players at #1 in the state while also grabbing the #2 ranking nationally among offensive tackles. Rated a 5-Star prospect and named an All-American, Thompson also won the 2023 Mr. Football award, the ABC15 Zoneman award, and participated in the Shrine Bowl. Outside of football, Thompson is a teacher cadet, an active member of his church, and a Relay for Life helper. He managed an excellent 3.8 GPA while at Dillon High School. Thompson is an early enrollee at the University of South Carolina.
Josiah marks the 5th Bridge Builder Excellence Award Winner in its history and second consecutive winner that was an early enrollee at the University of South Carolina. The honor went to LaNorris Sellers from South Florence and current Gamecock quarterback in 2023.
