The Dillon Wildcats won over the Red Springs Red Devils in varsity boys action played on Friday, December 20, in the Robeson County Shootout played at UNC Pembroke, N.C.
The Wildcats controlled the tipoff and immediately connected for a 3-point shot. With 5:08 remaining in the first quarter of play, Dillon held a 14-0 lead over Red Springs. With about 2 minutes remaining in the first quarter, the Red Devils sank a 3-point basket for the first points of the game. Dillon led 23-3 at this time. After the first quarter of play, Dillon was up 24-6. Dillon committed 3 fouls in the first quarter while Red Springs committed 4 fouls.
In the second quarter of play, Dillon continued to add points to the scoreboard. With 3:47 remaining in the first half, Dillon was up 38-7. At halftime, the Dillon Wildcats enjoyed a 48-14 lead. Dillon committed 5 fouls in the second quarter while Red Springs committed 4 fouls.
With 3:02 remaining in the third quarter, Dillon was up 53-23. After 3 quarters of play, Dillon led 56-25. Dillon committed 5 fouls, and Red Springs committed 2 fouls in the third quarter.
Dillon’s Head Coach is Dillon graduate Bryan Grice and is assisted by Coach Stacey Smith and Coach James McMillian.
Red Spring’s Head Coach is Glenn Patterson, Jr. and is assisted by Coach Nick Ferguson and Coach Chris Norman.
Dillon will participate in the Distric IX Tournament from December 26 through December 28.
Red Springs will host Pender on January 6, at 7:30 p.m.
