Dillon Wins 62-35 In High-Scoring Game Over Hartsville

The Dillon Wildcats won 62-35 in the high-scoring varsity football game played in Dillon on Friday, September 19.
The Hartsville Red Foxes took the opening kickoff and returned it to their own 24-yard line. Hartsville was forced to punt. Dillon started on their own 37-yard line.
Four plays later, the Dillon Wildcats were on the scoreboard with a 14-yard touchdown with a 14-yard run by Dominick Felton. The PAT failed. Dillon led 6-0 with 9:27 remaining in the first quarter.
Dillon wasted little time in adding 6 points to the scoreboard as Zamaurious Robertson grabbed a pass and strolled into the endzone with a 60-yard TD with 6:59 remaining in the first quarter. The 2-point conversion pass was good from Nibras Harrison to Khayel Sam Fong Talia. Dillon was up 14-0.
The Red Foxes were forced to punt again.
The Dillon Wildcats’ Zamaurious Robertson returned the punt to Hartsville’s 17-yard line. Rike Niyongabo rushed for a 14-yard TD with 4:13 remaining in the first quarter. The PAT was no good. Dillon led 20-0.
With 3:56 remaining in the first quarter, Hartsville’s #4, Tristian Spann scored on a pass reception. The PAT was good. Dillon was up 20-7.
Dillon’s JJ Campbell was forced to punt. Hartsville took over on their own 28-yard line. With 1:09 remaining in the first quarter, the Red Foxes scored on a 61-yard pass reception. The PAT was good. The score now was 20-13 with Dillon in the lead.
Dillon’s Daniel Capehart rushed for a 10-yard touchdown with 10:22 remaining in the second quarter. The 2-point conversion attempt failed. Dillon was up 26-14.
After Hartsville picked up a first down, the Red Foxes then faced fourth down and inches. Dillon defense prevailed, and the Wildcats’ offense went to work.
Hartsville’s Rod Cranford intercepted a tipped pass. After a few nice plays by Hartsville, Dillon’s Keryien Brown intercepted a deflected pass and scored a touchdown with 2:43 remaining in the first half. Khayel Sam Fong Talia tossed the 2-point conversion pass completion to Malachi Quick. Dillon led 34-14.
After a good kickoff return by Hartsville to their own 47-yard line, a pass completion to Trace Hillian was good for 7 yards. Kylif Miller scored with 1:13 remaining in the first half. The PAT was good by #80, Gerardo Segura. Dillon was up 34-21.
Dillon’s Dominick Felton rushed for a 75-yard TD that was nullified by a penalty.
The Dillon High School band performed at halftime. Also, at halftime, the Dillon “Teacher of the Week” was recognized. She was from Gordon Elementary School.
Dillon’s Nibras Harrison returned the opening kickoff of the third quarter to Dillon’s 41-yard line. Dillon quickly added 6 points to the scoreboard on a 45-yard pass reception to Zamaurious Robertson with 11:04 remaining in the third quarter. The 2-point conversion pass attempt failed. Dillon led 40-21.
The Hartsville Red Foxes faced a fourth down and 8 yards to go on Dillon’s 30-yard line. Dillon took over on their own 35-yard line.
With 5:38 remaining in the third quarter, Dominick Felton was on the receiving end of a pass for a touchdown. The 2-point conversion pass was good to Zamaurious Robertson. Dillon led 48-21.
With 4:37 remaining in the third quarter, Hartsville’s Tristian Spann scored a 65-yard pass reception. The PAT was good by #80, Gerardo Segura. Dillon was up 48-28.
With 3:37 remaining in the third quarter, Dillon’s JJ Campbell connected for a 46-yard punt to Hartsville’s 19-yard line.
Dillon’s Geo Warren intercepted a pass on Dillon’s 39-yard line.
On Dillon’s seventh play of the drive, Daniel Capehart scored from the 8-yard line with 8:18 remaining int he the game. The PAT was good by Jayden Lester. Dillon led 55-28.
Dillon added a touchdown by Noah Singletary and a PAT by Jayden Lester to go up 62-28 with 6 minutes remaining in the game.
The Hartsville Red Foxes added a touchdown and a PAT to close out the scoring in the game.
Dillon will not have a game on Friday, September 26.
Hartsville will face Wilson on Friday, September 26, at 7:30 p.m.
