The Dillon Wildcats won 37-21 over the Scotland County Fighting Scots Of Laurinburg, N.C., on Friday, August 23, in Dillon in varsity football action played at Dillon Memorial Stadium, Dillon, S.C.
Dillon took the opening kickoff to begin the action.
Neither team could muster a score in the first quarter.
Facing a fourth down and 10 yards to go for a first down, Domanick Felton threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Zamarious Robertson in the second quarter. Stephen Rojas’ PAT was good to give Dillon a 7-0 lead.
Jamarion Fling scored from 3 yards out to give the Dillon Wildcats a 14-0 lead at halftime.
Early in the third quarter, the Fighting Scots quarterback, Ji’san Mcphatter threw a completed pass to Dajuan Gibson who carried the pigskin into the endzone. The PAT was good. Dillon’s lead was cut to 7 points, 14-7.
In the end of the third quarter, Domanick Felton tossed a pass to Ejan Green who scored. Once again, Rojas’ PAT was good. Dillon now led 21-14.
Jamarion Fling took the snap and scored to give the Wildcats a 27-14 lead. The Stephen Rojas’ PAT was good. Dillon led 28-14.
#20 for Scotland County was driven out of the end zone for a 2-point safety for Dillon to up the lead to 30-14. The Wildcats added another touchdown and a PAT to go up 37-14.
The Fighting Scots’ Ji’san Mcphatter threw a touchdown pass to Quatavius Everette to make the score 37-21.
The Dillon Wildcats had 300 total yards in the game of which 169 were passing yards and 131 rushing yards. Scotland County had 169 total yards of which 114 were passing yards and 46 were rushing yards.
Dillon converted 7 of 14 third down conversions while Scotland County converted 1 of 9. Scotland County also turned the ball over twice. Ji’san McPhatter was intercepted twice in the game.
Dillon will travel to Socastee on Friday, August 30, for a 7:30 p.m. game.
Scotland County will host Terry Sanford on Friday, August 30, for a 7:30 p.m. game.
