Dillon Wildcats Defeat Wilson In JV Football

The Dillon Wildcats defeated the Wilson Tigers 34-14 in junior varsity football action played in Dillon on Thursday, September 5.
Wilson took the opening kickoff and quickly picked up 2 first downs before Dillon’s #4 intercepted a pass and returned it to Dillon’s own 28-yard line. Unable to pick up a first down, Dillon’s #4 punted, and Wilson started from their won 16-yard line.
After a good pickup by Wilson’s #26, the Tigers were unable to move the football and were forced to punt. However, a Dillon penalty breathed new life into the Tigers. Wilson’s #26 recovered a bad snap that cost Wilson a 17-yard loss. Dillon’s #14 recovered a fumble and scored with 3:29 remaining in the first quarter. Dillon’s #1 was stopped on the 2-point conversion attempt. Dillon led 6-0.
Dillon’s kickoff by #37 went into the end zone.
The Wilson Tigers began on their own 20-yard line. Wilson’s #12 rushed for a 12-yard pickup and a first down. After a 5-yard loss on a completed pass, Wilson’s #26 rushed for 10 yards. After an incomplete pass and no first down, Dillon took over with 39 seconds remaining in the first half. After an incomplete pass with 33 seconds remaining in the first half, Dillon’s #4 goes up and makes a great catch at Wilson’s 7-yard line. Dillon’s next pass was almost intercepted with 27 seconds remaining in the first half. Dillon’s #1 makes a great catch in the end zone for 6 points with 19 ticks left on the first half clock. The PAT was good by #37 to give Dillon a 13-0 lead that would hold through the first half.
After the Wilson kickoff in the third quarter, Dillon’s #3 carried on 3 consecutive plays that was capped off with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Dillon’s #4 with 7:45 remaining in the third quarter. The PAT was good by #37 to give Dillon a 20-0 lead.
Wilson’s #1 is caught from behind on the kickoff prior to his scoring. Wilson’s #12 rushed for a 4-yard TD with 6:52 remaining in the third quarter. The Tigers’ #26 is stopped on the 2-point conversion attempt. Dillon led 20-6.
After the kickoff, Dillon’s #1 scores a 58-yard TD that was nullified due to a penalty that placed the football on Wilson’s 38-yard line. Dillon’s #4 capped off the drive with another great catch in the end zone for a 13-yard touchdown. Dillon’s #10 carried for the 2-point conversion to give Dillon a 28-6 lead that would hold through the end of the third quarter.
Dillon’s defense stymied any offense on the next series of plays for Wilson. Dillon took possession of the football on Wilson’s 8-yard line. After a Dillon loss of 1 yard, Dillon’s #9 scored a 9-yard TD with 8:13 remaining in the game. The PAT was blocked. Dillon led 34-6.
With 4:56 remaining in the game, Wilson scored a touchdown followed by a 2-point conversion to make the score Dillon 34 and Wilson 14.

Dillon will travel to Manning on Thursday, September 12, for a 6:00 p.m. start.
