Dillon School District Four Announces Opening Of Dillon Elementary School

Dillon School District Four is proud to announce the opening of the new Dillon Elementary School on August 5, 2024 for students. The PreK- grade 3 facility combines the former schools of East Elementary (1926), South Elementary (1954) and Stewart Heights Elementary (1962). The Principal is Mrs. Jan Powers-Penuel with Assistant Principals, Jenise Bracey and Frankie Camp. The District is excited to provide this exciting opportunity to our students and the community. The ribbon cutting will beheld in September.
The new Dillon Elementary School was built without cost to the taxpayers of Dillon County through COVID-19 relief funds, the State Department of Education and legislative channels.
The new 120,000 square feet school which sits on 40 acres has many new exciting features including:
A state of the art mini-gym which includes the Lü Interactive Playground which makes the mini-gym an active learning space encouraging students while reinforcing other academic skills. The LU improves student engagement and collaboration during physical education, so no student is left out during class.
A brand new library with over 10,000 new books that also includes a video production room to provide those exciting experiences to students.
A cafeteria that includes a stage with a state of the art sound and projection system including menu boards to display the food choices.
New playground equipment that is also handicapped accessible
An art room with a display case for student work and a music room to provide students with up-to-date musical experiences
All classrooms are specifically designed for the appropriate age groups with age appropriate furniture
The latest Promethean panels with built-in features to engage students and help teachers showcase instruction.
The Epic system, a modern PA system that features top of the line functions needed efficiently operate a modern school building. Microphones for classroom teachers are provided to reduce vocal strain, allowing teachers to speak in a natural tone,, increase student engagement, and improve test scores.
An Access Control security system that determines who is allowed into the building at various times to provide an extra layer of safety for our staff and students.
Modern video surveillance cameras to monitor the campus
Digital signage to provide school-related information to parents when entering the building
An outdoor digital sign to provide updated information for parents and the community
Dillon School District Four wishes to thank our construction management company, Brownstone, under the direction of Project Manager, Thurmond Porter, Site Managers, Dominic Cibelli and Shelton Hall. The architect Dennis Ward of FW Architects. Edcon General Contractor, Project Manager, Bart Sease and Site Superintendent, Tab Coward. The District wants to also thank of all the subcontractors who worked tirelessly to make this school become a reality for our community.
