Dillon Mayor Thanks Law Enforcement Agencies For Hard Work And Dedication To Reduce Crime

By Dillon Mayor Tally McColl
I want to thank and congratulate all the women and men of our law enforcement agencies in Dillon County for their hard work and dedication to reducing violent crime in our communities over the past year.
According to the 2023 Crime in South Carolina annual report issued by the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) that was presented this month, the violent crime rate in Dillon County has been reduced by almost 30% from 2022. It is through the collaboration of all these local departments that we are living in safer communities, and this report is proof of their efforts. I hope Sheriff Jamie Hamilton of Dillon County, Chief David Lane of the City of Dillon Police Department, Chief Zane Bryant of the Latta Police Department, Chief Simon Temple of the Lake View Police Department and Solicitor Will Rogers of the Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s office know how much the citizens of our great county recognize and appreciate their efforts. It is apparent that the safety and security of our citizens and visitors is their number one concern. We all know that law enforcement’s work is never done but positive results like this are encouraging to everyone.
To Sheriff Hamilton, Chief Lane, Chief Bryant, Chief Temple, Solicitor Rogers, and all the officers and support staff, thank you for your service and your dedication to the communities where you live and work. A 30% reduction in violent crime is an incredible achievement. Thank you for keeping our citizens and communities safe.
These departments need and deserve the continued support of all the citizens of Dillon County to continue to have a positive impact on our City, our Towns, and our County every day. The services you provide will help the county we love continue to progress forward, and we anticipate your continued success in the future.
