The Dillon Lady Wildcats were victorious on Thursday, February 13, over the visiting Waccamaw Lady Warriors of Pawley’s Island in varsity basketball.
Waccamaw controlled the opening tipoff and place the first 2 points of the game onto the scoreboard to take an early lead. With 4:56 remaining in the first quarter, Dillon was up 6-2. At the end of the first quarter, Dillon led 10-4. Dillon committed 5 fouls, and Waccamaw committed 3 fouls in the first quarter of play.
With 4:36 remaining in the first half, Dillon’s lead was 8 points, 16-8. By halftime, Dillon was up 31-10. Dillon committed only 1 foul in the second quarter while Waccamaw was guilty of 3 fouls.
With Dillon leading 37-10 in the third quarter, Dillon’s Treasure Davis connected for her 1,000th point of her career at Dillon High School varsity basketball. With 5:13 remaining in the third quarter, the Lady Wildcats were up 44-10. After 3 quarters of play, Dillon was up 52-16. Dillon committed 3 fouls while Waccamaw committed 2 fouls.
Dillon’s Treasure Davis led all scorers with 20 points. She had eight 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket, and sank her 1 free throw. Mariah Campbell had six 2-point baskets for 12 points. Khwnylahi McKinnon added 11 points to the scoreboard with five 2-point baskets and a free throw. Zynijah Pernell had two 2-point baskets and 3 free throws for 7 points. Ayonna Lester added 7 points with two 2-point baskets and a 3-point basket. Zadaiya Moody and Alyssa Lee each had a 2-point basket.
Waccamaw’s Olivia Hodo had three 2-point baskets and 2 free throws to lead the Lady Warriors with 8 points. Miah Smith had two 2-point baskets for 4 points. Kendall Mason connected for a 3-point basket. Maddie Greene and Baylee Dockery each had a 2-point basket and a free throw for 3 points each.
It’s time for the playoffs!
