Dillon Lady Wildcats Defeat Loris Lions In Softball

The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated the Loris Lady Lions 6-2 in varsity softball action played in Dillon on Tuesday, April 1.
Neither team managed to score in the first inning. The Dillon Lady Wildcats placed 3 runs onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning. In the top of the third inning, Loris scored a run to cut the lead to 2 runs, 3-1. In the bottom of the second inning, Dillon added 3 runs to take a 6-1 lead. In the top of the sixth inning, the Loris Lady Lions added a run.
Dillon had 8 hits in the game, and Loris had 6 hits. Loris committed 2 errors while Dillon committed only 1 error.
Loris’ J. Cartrette had 2 hits in 3 at-bats. Dolly Buffkin and Emma Powell each had a hit in 2 at-bats. Kaylee Gilbert had a hit and a walk in 3 plate appearances. Jaci Griffin had a hit in 3 at-bats.
Loris’ J. Cartrette pitched 3.1 innings and allowed 2 hits, no runs, walked 2, and struck out 5. Bellamie Gore pitched 2.2 innings and allowed 6 hits, 6 runs of which 2 were earned, walked 3, and struck out 4.
Dillon is 4-8-1 overall and 3-2 in region play.
Loris is 7-6-1 overall and 3-2 in AAA Region 6.
Dillon will travel to play Male on Wednesday, April 2, at 6:15 p.m. Dillon will host Georgetown on Friday, April 4, at 6:15 p.m.
Loris will travel to Bennettsville to play Marlboro County on Friday, April 4, at 7:00 p.m.
