The Dillon Lady Wildcats advanced to the Third Round with a 54-31 win over the Hanahan Lady Hawks in Dillon on Thursday, February 20.
Dillon’s Treasure Davis placed 2 points onto the scoreboard followed by Jiana McGill with a 3-point basket that was answered by Camdyn Lawson with a 3-point basket for the Lady Hawks. Khwnylahi McKinnon managed a layup for Dillon. The Lady Wildcats’ Ayonna Lester connected for 2 free throws followed by a reverse layup by Khwnylahi McKinnon for Dillon. Kaleight Taylor sank a 2-point basket for the Lady Hawks followed by Dillon’s Ayonna Lester who sank a 2-point basket. Treasure Davis added a 2-point basket for the Lady Wildcats. After the first quarter of play, Dillon was up 12-7.
Dillon’s Mariah Campbell sank a 2-point basket to begin the second quarter of play. After several missed shots by both teams, Dillon’s Treasure Davis sank a free throw. . The Lady Hawk’s Kaleigh Taylor connected for a 2-point basket. With 3:38 remaining in the first half, Dillon was up 15-9. Hanahan’s Bri Johnsen’s 2-point shot was successful. Dillon’s Mariah Campbell connected for 2 points followed by Zynijah Pernell with a 3-point basket. Hanahan’s Bri Johnsen sank a 2-point shot. Dillon’s Mariah Campbell sank 2 free throws followed by Zadaiya Moody with a 2-point basket to give Dillon a 24-13 lead at halftime. Dillon committed 2 fouls in the second quarter while Hanahan committed 5 fouls.
The Lady Wildcats’ Khwnylahi McKinnon sank a free throw, and Mariah Campbell connected for a 2-point basket followed by Treasure Davis with a 2-point basket. Dillon’s Khwnylahi McKinnon scored 2 points on a layup. With 6:47 remaining in the third quarter, Dillon was up 31-13 over Hanahan. The Lady Hawks’ Bri Johnsen’s layup was good for 2 points. Dillon’s Jiana McGill scored 2 points. The Lady Wildcats’ Ayonna Lester sank 1 of 2 free throws. Ayonna Lester’s layup was good for 2 points. Dillon’s Alyssa Lee scored a 2-point basket followed by Hanahan’s Syniah Rivers’ who scored 2 points on a layup. Dillon’s Treasure Davis sank a 3-point shot from the top of the kay. Hanahan’s Kaleigh Taylor scored 2 points. After 3 quarters of play, Dillon was up 43-21. Dillon committed 3 fouls in the third quarter, and Hanahan committed 4 fouls.
Hanahan’s Bri Johnsen connected for 1 of 2 free throws. Dillon’s Treasure Davis sank a 3-point basket followed by a 2-point basket by Dillon. The Lady Hawks’ Syniah Rivers connected for a 2-point basket. After a couple of scrambles for the loose ball, Hanahan’s Sadie Williams scored a 2-point basket. With 6:17 remaining in the game, Dillon was up 48-26 over Hanahan. Dillon’s Treasure Davis added a 2-point basket. Hanahan’s Camdyn Lawson sank 1 of 2 free throws. Dillon’s Mariah Campbell connected for a 2-point basket followed by Hanahan’s Bre Johnsen with a 2-point basket. Dillon responded with a 2-point basket. The final points of the game were added by Hanahan’s Bri Johnsen with a 2-point basket. Dillon committed 4 fouls in the fourth quarter while Hanahan committed only 2 fouls.
Dillon’s Treasure Davis led all scorers with 19 points. She had six 2-point baskets, two 3-point baskets, and a free throw. Mariah Campbell had four 2-point baskets and 2 free throws for 10 points. Khwnylahi McKinnon had three 2-point baskets and a free throw for 7 points.
Ayonna Lester had two 2-point baskets and a free throw for 5 points. Jiana McGill and Alyssa Lee each had two 2-point baskets for 4 points each. Zynijah Pernell had a 3-point basket. Zadaiya Moody had a 2-point basket.
Hanahan’s Bri Johnsen led the Lady Hawks with 13 points. She had five 2-point baskets and 3 free throws. Kaleigh Taylor Syniah Rivers each had two 2-point baskets for 4 points each. Camdyn Lawson had a 3-point basket and a free throw for 4 points. Selena Riley and Sadie Williams each had a 2-point basket. Brianna Allen connected for 2 free throws.
