The Dillon Kiwanis held their meeting at the home of Lonnie Turner on Thursday, August 29, at 7:00 p.m.
Dillon Kiwanis’ “Patriarch” Lonnie Turner was recognized for his many years of service to the Dillon Kiwanis and the Dillon Community. Lonnie “Stats” Turner has always been there for the youth not only at the Dillon Kiwanis Park but also for other sports such as Wildcat football.
Darryl “Peanut” Miller praised Turner for all he has done. When one mentions the Dillon Kiwanis, Lonnie Turner’s name is at the top of the class including others such as Dudley Saleeby, Jimmy Bohachic, Alex Lewis, and others. In fact, Turner was instrumental in getting Darryl Miller to serve 4 terms as President of the Dillon Kiwanis.
Lonnie Turner helped Dudley Moore coach the Giants prior to his being in the press box that has since been named the “Lonnie Turner Press Box’ at the Dillon Kiwanis Michael S. Lecholop Park on the Ray Wilson Field on Julia Lane in Dillon.
Lonnie Turner is the “#1 Dillon Kiwanis”.
Many attended including Turner’s family, Dillon Kiwanis members, friends, and invited guests at the meeting to fellowship with Turner. Refreshments were served, and all had a great time.
When you have an opportunity, please thank Lonnie “Stats” Turner and the Dillon Kiwanis for all their hard work and dedication to our youth in Dixie Youth Baseball.
Ryan Berry is the current president of Dillon Kiwanis.
