The Dillon JV football team is facing a challenging season with a tough schedule, according to Head Coach Kevin Roberts, as Dillon will face two 4A schools and a 5A school early in non-region play.
The coaching staff and the players are excited about the upcoming season.
Coach Roberts and his coaching staff including Austin Moody, Bryce King, andTwin Lester are conditioning the players as some will play on offense and defense.
The team has a good amount of returning players from very important positions from last year. That is exciting for us.
Dillon’s offensive line is probably the most experienced on the JV team. Many of these players returned from last year. Coach Roberts said “We have guys who can make some plays on that side of the ball. We just hope our offensive line plays to their potential to help us be solid on defense.” Dillon also has some returning defensive players who will also help anchor the offense. Dillon has an opportunity to be good on defense.
Coach Roberts stated, ” We have a good group of receivers. We have a couple of guys who had lots of reps last year. Now they are a year older. They have the potential to make huge plays for us.”
Although the Dillon JVs lost 2 running backs, Dillon has some running backs on the roster to take up where they left off.
Dillon possesses 2 quarterbacks on the Junior Varsity team. One is a pocket-passer who can run if needed, and one is a mobile quarterback. “As long as they continue to work hard, we feed good about the position,” stated Coach Roberts.
Dillon’s team is confident in themselves. The coaches have to push them to get better so they can take that confidence and show it on the field.
“This JV team has the potential to be pretty good. We have to coach them up and help them reach that potential,” stated Roberts.
