Dillon JV Defeats Loris

The Dillon Wildcats defeated the Loris Lions 38-6 in junior varsity football action played in Dillon on Thursday, October 3, at the Dillon Memorial Stadium.
The Wildcats got on the scoreboard with 6:55 remaining in the first quarter with Dillon’s #1 returning a punt for a touchdown. Dillon’s #37’s PAT was good. Dillon led 7-0.
The Loris Lions turned the football over to Dillon on downs.
The Wildcats were forced to turn the ball over to the Lions.
Dillon led 7-0 after the first quarter.
With 9:04 remaining in the first half, Dillon’s #10 threw a TD pass to #1 in the end zone. Dillon’s quarterback kept the football for the 2-point conversion. Dillon led 15-0.
Loris was faced with a fourth down and 4 yards to go. Loris’ #22 carried the pigskin and fumbled; Dillon recovered the football.
The Dillon Wildcats carried the football to Loris’ 11-yard line. The Wildcats faced a fourth down and 6 yards to go for a first down from the 11-yard line. Dillon’s #10 threw one deep into the left side of the end zone but the reception was just out of bounds.
Loris took over and was forced to punt on fourth down and 7 yards to go. With 13 seconds remaining in the first half, Dillon’s #1 scored a touchdown. #1 for Dillon also successfully carried the pigskin into the end zone for the 2-point conversion. Loris’ quarterback, #4, took a knee to end the first half with Dillon on top 23-0.
Dillon took the opening kickoff of the third quarter. The drive was stalled as Dillon faced a fourth down and 8 yards to go. Dillon’s quarterback threw a pass into the end zone that came up short to #1D.
Loris began to move the football offensively picking up 2 consecutive first downs. The drive stalled on a fourth down and 12 yards to go.
The Wildcats took over and fired a quick pass to #4 for 7 yards followed by a carry by #23. Dillon’s quarterback fired a pass to Dillon’s #14 in the backfield that was missed, and Loris’ #4 scampered into the end zone for a score with 1:34 remaining in the third quarter. The 2-point conversion failed. Dillon led 23-6.
With 9:39 remaining in the game, Dillon’s #1 scored after the reception. Dillon’s quarterback kept the football for the 2-point conversion. Dillon led 31-6.
Loris was forced to punt.
Dillon’s #20 scored with 2:59 remaining in the game. Dillon’s #37’s PAT was good. Dillon led 38-6.
Dillon will travel to Aynor on Thursday, October 10, for a 6:00 p.m. matchup.
Loris will host Marlboro County on Thursday, October 24, at 6:00 p.m.
