Scotland County edged Hartsville 12-7 in the second game of the Dillon Jamboree of Champions played at Dillon Memorial Stadium on Friday, August 15.
Scotland County jumped out to a 6-0 lead with 7:35 remaining in the first quarter. The PAT was no good.
Hartsville picked up a first down on Scotland County’s 45-yard line. The drive was stopped on an interception by Scotland County’s #7.
Scotland County’s drive was stopped on a fumble by #18 with a Hartsville recovery.
Hartsville’s #4 pulled in a pass with a great reception. Hartsville’s drive was capped with a 2-yard keeper by the quarterback, #16, with 3:18 remaining in the first quarter. The PAT was good by Hartsville’s #80 to give Hartsville a 7-6 lead.
The Red Foxes stopped a drive by the Scots with a fumble recovery on the 40-yard line. An incomplete pass in the end zone intended for #7 closed out the first quarter of play with Hartsville on top 7-6.
Scotland County responded with a 66-yard touchdown by #12 but the play was nullified due to a flag. The Scotland County drive was helped with a pass interference call against the Red Foxes. On one play, the Scots’ #26 carried the defense with him before being tackled. After an incomplete pass to Scotland County’s #10 in the end zone, the Scots’ #38 scored from 44 yards with 8:30 remaining in the second quarter to give Scotland County a 12-7 lead. The PAT was no good.
Hartsville’s drive was stopped. However, Hartsville attempted a 41-yard field goal that came up short.
The Scots held on to win 12-7.
