The Latta Vikings won 14-0 over the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes in the first game of the exciting Dillon Jamboree of Champions played at Dillon Memorial Stadium on Friday, August 15. The Fairmont Golden Tornadoes stopped the first Latta threat with an interception in the end zone on fourth down. However, Latta forced the Golden Tornadoes to punt. With only 2:16 remaining in the first quarter, Latta’s #2 scored a touchdown on a pass play to give Latta a 6-0 lead. The Vikings’ #9, Ahmari Bethea carried the pigskin into the end zone for the 2-point conversion to give Latta an 8-0 lead.
After Fairmont turned the football over to Latta on downs, the Golden Tornadoes intercepted a deflected pass.
With 3:11 remaining in the second quarter, Latta’s #5 carried one in for 6 points. The 2-point conversion failed as Latta’s #5 was stopped.
