The Dillon Dental Giants faced the Physicians Healthcare Yankees in the first game of the Dillon Kiwanis season on Tuesday, April 8, at the Dillon Kiwanis Michael S. Lecholop Park on the Ray Wilson Field.
Excitement filled the air as these two opponents faced off on the baseball field.
In the top of the first inning, M. Pinkney garnered a walk. He stole second and third. Jaden Hunt also garnered a walk to place base runners on the corners. Wren Hedgepeth hit a grounder to short, and a run scored. Another run scored to give the Physicians Healthcare Yankees a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the first inning, Jim Windham hit one to left for a single. Windham stole second. Eli Meekins garnered a walk. Terrell McLellan hit one by short for a single and a rbi. Dillon Dental Giants’ #1, Hunter Lee, hit one by second, and a run scored and placed base runners on second and third. The Giants’ #6 hit a grounder to the pitcher. On the throw to first, 2 runners scored.
After one inning of play Dillon Dental Giants led 4-2 over the Physicians Healthcare Yankees.
Nolan Barnes led off with a double to deep left center for the Yankees. On a throw to third, Barnes scored. After 1 ½ innings of play, Dillon Dental Giants led 4-3.
The Dillon Dental Giants’ Jase Smith garnered a walk. He moved to second base on a balk. Zaden Oxendine hit one to left for a single to place base runners on the corners. The Giant’s #5 hit one by first for a single, and 2 runs scored.
After 2 innings of play, Dillon Dental Giants led 6-3.
The Giants held on to win 6-4.
