Dillon Defeats Marion 48-7 In Varsity Football

The Dillon Wildcats defeated the Marion Swamp Foxes 48-7 in varsity football action played in Dillon on Thursday, September 12.
Dillon’s Stephen Rojas kicked off to Marion to begin the game. Marion’s Geo Warren returned the kickoff to Marion’s own 28-yard line. Unable to move the football, Tyrice Davis punted to Marion’s own 44-yard line.
Dillon’s Jamarion Fling carried for 7 yards followed by another carry for a first down. Rahmond Hamilton fired an incomplete pass before Jamarion Fling picked up 8 yards. Rahmond Hamilton kept for a first down to Marion’s 5-yard line. Daquavious Williams carried the pigskin into the end zone for the 5-yard TD reception with 8:59 remaining in the first quarter. The PAT by Stephen Rojas was blocked.
Marion started on the 35-yard line with 65 yards to go for a score. Faced with a fourth down and 6 yards to go, Marion’s Tyrice Davis punted to Dillon’s 32-yard line. Domanick Felton picked up 4 yards followed by Rahmond Hamilton who kept to Marion’s 38-yard line. Daquavious Williams caught a pass for 2 yards and was tackled by Jaquan Ritter. Dillon turned the football over on downs.
The Marion Swamp Foxes took possession on their own 33-yard line. Tyrice Davis kept for a 9-yard gain. Marion’s #34 carried for 2 yards. Faced with a fourth down and a yard to go, Tyrice Davis kept but was dropped in the backfield. Dillon took over on Marion’s 43-yard line.
Ejan Green carried for a first down after the reception. Dillon moved the football to the 5-yard line. Ejan Green’s reception moved Dillon to the 3-yard line. Jamarion Fling was stopped on the next play from getting into the end zone. With 1:07 remaining in the first, Jamarion Fling crossed the goal line for the touchdown. Jamarion Fling rushed for the 2-point conversion to give Dillon a 14-0 lead.
Marion’s Lacoree Timmons returned the kickoff to Marion’s own 38-yard line. Jaquan Ritter carried for a tough 1-yard gain prior to Tyrice Davis hitting Tahj Lathon with a long pass to move the football to Dillon’s 15-yard line. After a penalty, Marion found themselves on Dillon’s 20-yard line and faced a second down and 10. After an incomplete pass, Marion was hit with another penalty. This time, too many on the field. Marion now faced a fourth down and 14 to go. Marion’s Tyrice Davis fired an incomplete pass into the end zone.
The Dillon Wildcats took over and went to work. Rahmond Hamilton fired a pass to Ejan Green that took Dillon to the 50-yard line. Domanick Felton carried for yardage. Dillon faced a fourth down and 5 but Marion committed a 5-yard penalty to give Dillon a first down. Domanick Felton carried for a first down to Marion’s 30-yard line. Dillon’s Rahmond Hamiton fired a 30-yard TD pass with 9:15 remaining in the second quarter. Stephen Rojas’ PAT was good. Dillon led 21-0.
The Marion Swamp Foxes returned the kickoff to their own 45-yard line. On fourth down, a bad snap placed the Dillon Wildcats on their own 45-yard line. Jamarion Fling picked up a first down. After a fake to Jamarion Fling, Rahmond Hamilton kept for a gain. Hamilton tossed an incomplete pass intended for Zephaniah Campbell. Jamarion Fling picked up a first down and then carried for a 6-yard gain to Marion’s 16-yard line. Domanick Felton rushed for the 16-yard touchdown with 5:45 remaining in the first half. The PAT by Stephen Rojas was good. Dillon led 28-0.
Marion’s Geo Warren returned the football to Marion’s won 40-yard line. Jaquan Ritter picked up 6 yards followed by Tyrice Davis who carried for 2 yards. Marion faced a third down and 2 yards to go. Jaquan Ritter carried to Dillon’s 45-yard line for the first down. Jaquan Ritter was stopped by Azavion Deberry carried for a tough 1-yard pickup. Dillon’s Dan Graves intercepted a pass and returned it to Marion’s 25-yard line. Jamarion Fling rushed for the 25-yard TD with 2:19 remaining in the first half. The PAT was no good. Dillon led 34-0.
The Swamp Foxes returned the kickoff to Dillon’s 48-yard line. Marion faced a fourth down on Marion’s own 39-yard line. A bad snap rolled to the 15-yard line of Marion. After a pass to Dillon’s Daquavious Williams in the end zone that was ruled incomplete, Dillon’s Stephen Rojas attempted a 32-yard field goal that was blocked and returned by Marion’s Malachi Graham for a touchdown that was nullified by an inadvertent whistle.
With under 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter, Noah Singletary carried the pigskin into the end zone for a 26-yard touchdown. The PAT was good by Stephen Rojas to give Dillon a 41-0 lead.
With under a minute to go in the third quarter, the Marion Swamp Foxes rushed for a 1-yard touchdown. The PAT was good. Dillon led 41-7.
With 5 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Noah Singletary rushed for a 26-yard TD for the Dillon Wildcats. The PAT was good by Stephen Rojas. Dillon was up 48-7.
Dillon is 4-0, and Marion is 1-3 after this game.
Dillon will travel to Hartsville on Friday, September 20, to face the Red Foxes at 7:30 p.m.
Marion will travel to Kingstree on Friday, September 20, for a 7:30 p.m. start.
