The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated the Loris Lady Lions 5-3 in varsity softball playoffs played in Loris on Wednesday, May 15.
Dillon’s Paige Sherman connected for a grand slam home run to centerfield in the seventh inning to seal the win.
Loris got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning thanks to an error.
In the bottom of the second inning, Kenzie McCoy hit a double to give Loris a 3-0 lead.
Dillon’s Paige Sherman picked up the win. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 5 hits, 3 runs of which 1 was earned, stuck out 2, and walked 2. She faced 32 batters in the game.
Karley Hand took the loss for Loris. She pitched 7 innings and gave up 7 hits, 5 runs of which 1 was earned, struck out 7, and walked 3.
Paige Sherman had 3 hits and 4 rbi to lead the Lady Wildcats. McKayla Huggins had 2 hits in 4 at-bats. Makeena Meekins had a hit a walk, and scored 2 runs in her 4 plate appearances. Cecelia Grider had a hit, a walk, and scored a run in her 3 plate appearances. Cierra Grice garnered a walk. M. Bethea had a stolen base.
Kenzie McCoy had a triple, a double, a single, 2 rbi, and scored a run in 4 at-bats for the Lady Lions. E. Spivey had a hit and a walk in her 3 plate appearances. C. Black had a hit and a stolen base in her 4 at-bats. H. Spence had a rbi. K. Cratzer had a walk and scored a run in her 3 plate appearances. K. Hand had a stolen base.

The Dillon Lady Wildcats will face the Aynor Lady Blue Jackets at Aynor on Friday, May 17. Aynor is 21-4 for the season.
