Dillon County Fire Station 4 was alerted to assist Station 3 on a dwelling fire this afternoon. Engine 41 was first to arrive and was the unit for fire attack. Station 3 units arrived seconds later and provided man power and water supply. When units arrived on scene they advised of heavy fire from the top floor of a 2 story garage apartment in a single family dwelling. Crews made access to the fire floor via an exterior stair case at the rear of building. Crews entered and made a fast knock on the fire with a aggressive push. A fast and effective attack on the fire kept it contained to only the back half. The residence only recieved some smoke damage. Also the firefighters were able to rescue a family cat. The homeowners were very happy that their feline could be saved and reunited with them. The fire originated in the garage below the apartment. Most likely from a hot lawn mower that caught fire after shut down. Superior work by both stations working together. A total of 14 firefighters responded to the call
