Dillon City Manager Burt Rogers gave an update on several projects at the Dillon City Council’s meeting on Monday evening.
The project to take out four planters on East Main Street has been completed. He said the guys did a great job, and it looks really good.
They started the new project of planting trees downtown which he said coincides well with that project. These are more compact evergreen type trees so there shouldn’t be many leaves on the sidewalk. They will provide beauty to the city and won’t be as obstructive to the buildings allowed people to see the business signs and facades.
The water meter project has been talked about for a while. They are still having some ongoing problems with some computer software and some meter locations. Hopefully in the next month, this will be complete. It has been a larger undertaking than they anticipated, and they are ready to get it done.
Wastewater and stormwater projects are moving forward. These were projects they knew were going to take some time up to a year or year and a half. They are working on the clarifiers at the wastewater treatment plant and electrical upgrades.
The Wellness Center is heavily used. There are 16 youth basketball teams playing this year. They have some ongoing projects such as replacing some carpet, doing some painting, and have a list of equipment they are going to replace. The bathroom project bids for bathroom near the playground and the splash pad are due February 12th.
