Prior to the tipoff, Dillon Christian School’s Thompson Stone and Jackson Outlar were recognized for each of their 1,000th point of their career achieved in a recent away game.
The Dillon Christian School Warriors defeated the visiting Conway Christian Eagles 55-43 in varsity basketball action played in Dillon on Monday, December 16.
The Warriors controlled the tipoff but the Eagles’ Zeke Crawford placed the first 2 points onto the scoreboard. After the first quarter of play, Dillon Christian School trailed 15-10. Each team committed 5 fouls in the first quarter.
With 4:125 remaining in the second quarter, Conway Christian held a slim 1-point lead, 15-14. With 3:33 remaining in the first half, the Warriors were up 17-15. By halftime, Dillon Christian School had increased the lead to 10 points, 27-17. Each team committed 5 fouls in the quarter.
The Warriors increased their lead in the third quarter to 14 points, 36-22. By the end of the third quarter, Conway had cut the lead to 11 points, 44-33.
With 3:50 remaining in the game, Conway had whittled the lead to only 5 points, 47-42.
The Warriors’ Thompson Stone led all scorers with 23 points. He connected for five 2-point baskets, two 3-point baskets, and 7 of 8 free throws. Jackson Outlar added 13 points to the scoreboard with four 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket, and 2 free throws. McKinnon Sampson had a 3-point basket and a 2-point basket for 5 points. Jordan Blackmon, Braxton Cummings, and Reese Bracey each had two 2-point baskets. Jasper McIntyre sank a 2-point basket.
Conway Christian’s Miles Crawford had three 2-point baskets and two 3-point baskets for 12 points. Zeke Crawford sank two 2-point baskets and 3 free throws for 7 points. Will Kunkle had two 2-point baskets and a 3-point basket. Braillin Barnhill had two 2-point baskets and 2 free throws for 6 points. Dalton Droll sank three 2-point baskets. Trye Scott added 3 points with a 2-point basket and a free throw. Elleon Vallario connected for a 2-point basket.
Dillon Christian School will host Southeastern Academy on Thursday, December 19.
