Minutes for Meeting from September 2024

Welcome/Opening Prayer/ Pledge of Allegiance – Glenn Greene

Approval of Minutes – Motion by Jaime Vance, 2nd by Mike Tyler

Financial Report – No new activity this month.

Private Board Update: Habitat Fundraiser has several sponsorship opportunities available; Habitat is looking for a place to locate in Dillon County, Darius Leonard has donated property to build 4-5 houses, we have several golf tournaments in the moth of October and the Taste of Dillon.

Public Board Update – Mike Tyler told the DCP3 that the public board has had conversations with industry about expansion, Country Club has met about a plan to be sustainable in the community. Possibility of gifting the property to the Private Board. Voted to form a committee to investigate this opportunity. Suggest we sponsor a hole for local golf tournaments ($100) and for local events, Habitat ($125). Motion made by Mike Tyler, 2nd by Jaime Vance.

County Administration Update: Tim was unable to attend.

Economic Developer Comments: Not sure about Oyster Roast yet, still looking at dates possibly in November. Business to Inform Magazine gave a nice write up for free in exchange for potential advertisers. Useful tool to help promote the county. Commerce has given commitments for incentives to projects. Toys for Tots will be starting up soon for Christmas. Began in Marion County and we are excited about bringing it to Dillon County this year.

Roundtable subjects: Jaime reported Mcleod Dillon just completed their survey and received a superior rating, Andy stated how NETC is expanding in McBee, Marlboro Campus is still under construction and they have a new project in Cheraw with a new partnership with Shefler, 1483 students enrolled in Dillon county this Fall. PDRTA is also growing in Dillon county-looking to add help for shift workers and weekends, a lot of seniors are using this service, just purchased 2 new busses and looking at adding a shelter at the hospital. Mamie mentioned SC Works – grant for outreach, Thomas Freeman – Pee Dee Electric/Marlboro Electric – been back in the area for 2 weeks, glad to be back.
