WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Fry (SC-07) has been selected by the House Republican Steering Committee to serve on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce in the 119th Congress.
The Committee on Energy and Commerce is the oldest standing legislative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives and is vested with the broadest jurisdiction of any congressional authorizing committee. It covers issues relating to the environment, energy, technology, affordable internet access, consumer protection, manufacturing, healthcare, tourism, grid security, sports, and privacy.
“I am honored to earn a seat on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. This is a critical committee when it comes to the needs of South Carolina and our nation as a whole. It wields the power to help increase energy production, lower energy prices, streamline technological innovation, ensure affordable healthcare, bolster manufacturing, and support tourism. The legislative actions of this committee will create a ladder for success for hardworking American families,” said Congressman Fry.
“I want to thank the Steering Committee for this opportunity. I look forward to working with incoming Energy and Commerce Chairman Brett Guthrie, fellow committee members, and my colleagues in Congress to implement President Trump’s America First agenda. Together, we will restore U.S. energy independence, cultivate a prosperous economy, and maintain dominance on the world stage,” Congressman Fry continued.
“Congratulations to Congressman Russell Fry on being appointed to the Energy & Commerce Committee. Russell is a crucial addition to our Committee and I look forward to working with him to promote our all-of-the-above energy agenda, as well as combatting the opioid and fentanyl crisis that has ravaged communities across the nation,” said Chairman Brett Guthrie.
Congressman Fry is the third member of the South Carolina delegation to serve on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce since 2000. Most recently, Congressman Jeff Duncan served from the 115th through the 118th Congress.
