The Community Thanksgiving Service was held on Sunday, November 24, at 6:00 p.m. at Marshill Bibleway Holiness Church.
The Welcome and Opening Prayer was by Elder Tommy Lee Pittman of Marshill Bibleway Church.
The Old Testament Scripture was by Jim Kirland of Habitat for Humanity.
The Congregational Hymn, “Amazing Grace” was led by the Marshill Praise Team.
City of Dillon Mayor Tally McColl had the Prayer of Thanksgiving.
The Offertory gifts will be used to support the Pregnancy Center of Dillon.
The Community Remarks were by Sharoon Shoffner of the Pregnancy Center followed by Rev. Richie Hicks of Dillon Second Baptist Church who informed everyone of the “Big Crusade Tent” coming to Dillon. The 2,000 plus occupancy tent will be located near I-95 near the Dillon Airport.
S.C. State Senator Kent Williams offered thoughts on Thanksgiving. He stated that we should all be thankful for family, friends, and community and that we should practice gratitude every day. We should have the power of gratitude. He referred to Psalm 104 that brings us closer to God and one another.
Pastor James Orr of Pyerian Baptist Church introduced the speaker, Pastor James Smith of East Dillon Baptist Church.
After a musical selection by the Marshill Praise Team, Pastor James Smith began his message, “Turning Thanksgiving Into Thanks Living”. He spoke from Psalm 107: 21 and 22.
The Benediction was by Pastor Joseph Graham of the New Memorial Temple.
