The renovations for the new City of Dillon Police Department are coming along and are expected to be completed by mid-summer.
City of Dillon Police Chief David Lane said that the projected date of completion is June 28th, 2024. The elevator is expected to be delivered May 30th and then June 28th will give them adequate time to install the elevator. The HVAC, plumbing, and electric are complete, and the dry wall is expected to begin soon.
Gilbert Construction is handling the renovations.
Chief Lane told The News that they intend to have a mini museum upstairs in the new department. They are looking for any police memorabilia to put in it. Anyone who has something to donate should contact the police department.
The location is on Main Street in Dillon at the former First Bank building.
City Manager Glen Wagner said once it is said and done, it will be another good move. He said they will have to look into what to do with the space they are vacating in the Dillon City-County Complex and find some money to renovate it and make it useful for other office spaces for the city.
