Q. Tell us a little bit about yourself and/or your personal journey:
A. Born and reared in Dillon County. Raised in a single parent home, but I had a village to help mode me into the woman I am today. I am a first generational college graduate of my family and that lead me to being a trailblazer for the younger generation of my family. I am married with two beautiful daughters, two handsome sons, 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 1 on the way. My home church is Manning Baptist Church where I serve as the Youth Director and I attend Community House of Prayer under the leadership of my husband Bobby Porter where I am known as Lady Porter and serve in many capacities. I am the Co-Founder of Boys to Men/ Girls With Purpose established 2023. I am a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc!!!!!
Q. What is a little known fact about yourself that you wish to share?
A. I am the nicest person you could ever meet if you get to know me before judgement.
Q. What is in one of your biggest accomplishments?
A. My biggest accomplishment is receiving my Master’s Degree.
Q. Who has been an influential figure in your life and why?
A. Eva Owens (the owner of Mother’s Love Daycare/ Awesome Afterschool) has been an influential figure in my life. She has lived a life showing that nothing in life is handed to you. She is a picture that displays from the struggle to success and that required embracing adversity as a catalyst of growth!
Q. What is the best advice you have ever received?
A. Your excuses don’t excuse you and your explanations don’t explain anything!!!!
Q. Fun fact about yourself:
A. I have middle child syndrome!!!! Only some can relate!!!!!
Q. Hobbies/What you like to do in your spare time:
A. I like to do hair, garden, cook, spending time with my family, my mentoring group, and friends!!!
Q. What is the key to success?
A. Many people have talent, ideas, and dreams, but the difference between those who succeed and those who do not is often the ability to (keep showing up and doing the work even when it is hard, boring, or slow). Just show up!!!!
