Tell us a little bit about yourself and/or your personal journey
My faith in Jesus Christ has always been the foundation of my life and the guide for the way I try to live each day. I am incredibly thankful to have been raised in a Christian home by my parents, Sonny and Robin Price, who taught me from a young age to love the Lord and trust His plan. Their example of faith, hard work, and kindness helped shape the person I am today.
Growing up, my family instilled in me a deep love and appreciation for the land through our family farm, Bruce Price and Sons Farm. I was named after my father and grandfather, Bruce Price, and that family legacy has always meant a great deal to me. From a young age I learned the value of hard work, stewardship, and gratitude for the many blessings the Lord provides through the land. Some of my earliest memories are tied to time spent on the farm, where the land quietly teaches patience, responsibility, and respect for God’s creation. The connection between faith, family, and the land is something that has stayed with me throughout my life.
Education has also been an important part of my journey. After graduating from Dillon Christian School, I went on to attend Coker University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and later my master’s degree in Literacy. I later completed a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University.
I began my career as a fourth-grade teacher at Gordon Elementary School and later served as the reading coach there, a place and time in my life that I truly loved. Today, I serve as a Literacy Specialist with the South Carolina Department of Education, where I have the opportunity to work with reading coaches, teachers, and children across the state of South Carolina. I believe one of the greatest gifts we can give a child is the ability to read.
One of the greatest blessings in my life is my family. My husband, Trey, and I are blessed to be raising three wonderful boys who bring so much joy to our home. My boys keep things lively and full of laughter, and being their mama is one of the greatest joys and blessings the Lord has given me. I pray each day that they grow up to love the Lord and follow the path He has for their lives.
Our family loves being part of our church family at Little Rock Baptist Church, where I serve as the Sunday school teacher for the Adult Ladies Sunday School class. Many of the women in that class have lived far more life than I have, and I feel incredibly humbled and honored to teach and learn alongside them. They are some of my biggest cheerleaders and mighty prayer warriors, and from those wooden pews countless prayers have been lifted for the people and families of our community. Our church means so much to us, and it is a place where our family continues to grow in faith together.
Who has been an influential figure in your life and why?
My parents, Sonny and Robin Price, have had the greatest influence on my life. I am incredibly thankful they raised me in a Christian home and taught me to love the Lord from a young age. They always believed in me and encouraged me to work hard and trust God’s plan. The values they instilled in me are the same ones I hope to pass down to my own boys today.
My sister, Elizabeth Price, is also a very special part of my life and someone who constantly reminds me of what pure joy and unconditional love look like.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
One piece of advice that has always stayed with me came from my middle and high school English teacher, Sylvia Bult, who often reminded us that we are all building our house by the way we live our lives. She taught us that the choices we make, the effort we give, and the way we treat others are all part of the life we are building. She encouraged us never to settle for being mediocre, but to approach everything with our whole heart and to strive to be the best we can be while living in the will of God. It was her way of reminding us that the life we build here matters not only for today, but for eternity. This is something I have tried to live by each and every day.
Fun fact about yourself
One thing that surprises people about me is that even though my favorite color is leopard and I firmly believe a good pair of earrings can fix just about anything, I also love to go fishing. I’m just as happy sitting by a pond with a fishing pole as I am out shopping.
Hobbies / What you like to do in your spare time
Most of my hobbies revolve around my children and the time we spend together as a family. I enjoy cooking for my family, planting flowers, working in the garden, going to the beach with my boys, and cheering them on in whatever they have going on (sometimes a little too loudly).
